Pieces of Mr. Dixon's Mind
About Me
- Casey Dixon
- Corinth, Mississippi, United States
- I'm 23 and some folks have told me that I'm rather mature for my age. I'm blunt though, sadly enough. I don't believe in beating around the bush about anything. I'm slowly trying to involve myself in politics and have ambitions for the field.

Long time gone...
Been a long time gone. A lot of broken promises on the blogging thing. Want to apologize to Mike for going on a hiatus like I have. I dropped off the face of the planet but I'm still alive and doing very well. Now days I'm working for Long Distribution. They supply C-stores all over Mississippi and in the south west/middle TN and northwest AL. I started in the warehouse and after only a year of work managed to work my way up into Sales and Service, working as a merchandise/store planner. It's a pretty good job. I found the love of my life at the beginning of 2012 and am engaged to marry her! I mostly play StarCraft 2 now and other than that some single player games. I do own a copy of Guild Wars 2 and have been considering playing it, never did much when it first came out though. Was just thinking of old friends and things I used to do and remembered this ole thing. Never really blogged much but I am considering perhaps sharing my thoughts on things from time to time.

Anticipation
Okay, so I'm getting a little off base from what I established this blog for but...
It should be hitting store shelves 12/20/2011. Some people pre-ordered (I didn't *sob*) and are already playing. I can tell you though, I have been looking forward to this ever since they first announced it. Knights of the Old Republic have been some of my all time favorite RPGs and by far my favorite in the Star Wars genre. I'm certainly going to head out and buy myself a copy ASAP. I encourage all SW and MMO fans to give this a try. It has stunning graphics, and from what I've seen some state of the art game play. It should be one of the best MMO experiences out there, especially if you're a star wars fan!

Return! Quick Update and A Fresh Idea?
I've been debating if I wanted to continue blogging or retire way to early from it. I've concluded, that since it would appear, I'm missed that I shall continue! So here I'm stating my official return to blogging and doing it regularly!
So now for the update section, I'm sure those of you following me have been wondering about my employment status, and I am now working in a cheese factory. It isn't grand but it's easy work and decent pay so I'm not going to complain entirely too much about it. Nothing I really want to be doing but that's okay as well. Things are going well in my life overall and I only see brighter things on the horizon.
Now for my wonderful idea(s)! Starting up "The Political Gamer." Basically create a blog and style it like a magazine. Having different friends write articles and such that have to do with politics, computer hardware, current and oldie games, age old discussions of xbox vs playerstation and the likes! Along that same basic idea I've had another brilliant idea, do the same thing only via video and create a youtube channel for it. Feedback please on which route you'd like to see or if you'd like to see either one happen, let me know!
Special thanks to Anonymous and Dock(cybersouth.blogspot.com) for encouraging me to continue blogging after my hiatus. Was just going through some stuff and got it all sorted out now!

Ignorance
So I'm an idiot. This I share free of charge to you all. I lost all my data about a week ago thanks to not backing up my files and a harddrive crash. For this alone I am an idiot. Then yesterday at work, I got my pride stepped on heavily. Fueled on rage and anger I went and did my business in town on my lunch break as per I was going to do but I couldn't shake it off my mind. So I proceeded to drive back to work, hand in my keys to the backdoor, and quit my job. So now, here I am, mountain of debt like many others, blessed to have a job, and then I quit the thing like an absolute fool. Now that was just a straw that broke the camel's back though. I get tired of all the teasing from my co-workers, got tired of everyone walking all over me, got tired of being told to do one thing one minute then the boss wondering why I haven't gotten someone else done after him telling me to do the other first, and just overall being treated like I was at the bottom of the totem pole when I was supposed to be a "manager." Oh well, that's all in the past, now time to start looking for a new job...
Learn from my ignorance and my mistakes.
1) Back up your harddrives to an external, slave, usb, and/or web based backup business.
2) Keep your job, even if you hate it. You got bills, they might treat you wrong, everyone there maybe walk all over you, but in today's time it's best to just smile and keep at it.

Lessons Learned
It's been a while because I been debating on whether or not I should share this with people and I just sort of decided why not.
The grown ups always said growing up, "Son you're going to wish you'd listened to us old folks." Here at the ripe age of 23 I can already admit that is partially true. The true part is the advice and instruction they gave was typically sound and should have been followed. But it is also entirely false. Living life isn't about success in the sense of having the perfect relationship, the perfect job, the perfect education, the perfect background. Life is all about the lessons learned along the way.
People have regrets about past decisions and wish they'd done it differently. Some folks don't like who they turned out to be. Some people still haven't learned the lessons of life and are still experimenting. Those lessons though, they make your life real. It's what separates the real world from television.
Think of how dull your life would have been if you'd followed ALL the rules and ALL the advice given? You wouldn't have very many stories to share, you'd probably have less scars, and let's face it we all know you'd have less "rough experiences." While sex, drugs, stupid stunts, drunken nights, skipped classes, hookie at work, and countless other "social experiments" might have have had their drawbacks, they're what have made you who you are. Without all of life's experiences you wouldn't be who you are.
I guess what I'm trying to say is it's one thing to be told, it's another to experience, and still another to learn the lesson provided. Countless people go to college, do an experiment in a lab, and never figure out what the results mean. Unfortunately some people even do this in the real world. But for those of us who are able to analyze our lives and our little experiments, we all need to remember the data presented. We all need to remember that it has taught us valuable lessons that we use on an everyday basis.
Do I regret some stuff I've done? I'm human so the answer to that is yes. Am I proud of some of the stuff I've done? I'm human so the answer to that is no. If I honestly had a time machine set before me and told I could go back and change it, would I? The honest answer here is no. It's what has made me who I am. It's what has given me the outlook on life that I have. It's what has built this character that I have, whether you deem it good, bad, or whatever. It's the scars on my head, the tattoo on my arm, the heartbreak I still feel for past relationships, the tears that form when I think of the time I didn't spend with my now dead grandmother, it's all of this. All of my stupid, stupid mistakes have shaped me into the person I am. I was able to take those lessons learned and apply the data to my life. I was able to reshape who I am and what I stand for.
Do I still do "social experiments?" Well, I haven't lied so far so I'll be straight forward here too. Yes. But these experiments, experiences, lessons, life, whatever you want it call it. It's what makes me the person I am. It's what makes you the person you are. It should be embraced and accepted and not shunned and depressing.
Hug your past, thank your present, and envision your future.
And most importantly...
Never forget...

My thought for the day
Okay so I know I didn't post yesterday and it was looking like I wouldn't post today, buuut I figured I'd share a thought with everyone for the day which stems from a story.
Last night I went into the gas station and paid for gas but on my way out a lady in a van called me over. She proceeded to explain that her mother had gotten rushed to the hospital in Tupelo (that's about 45 minutes away from Corinth where we were). In their haste to leave, her husband had forgotten his wallet and they were needing some gas money. My first thoughts, as always, were yep just someone trying to con a few bucks out of some ole sucker. Then I looked into the man's eyes and he bowed his head, nothing but shame was across his face. The lady looked sincere and apologetic for even having to ask someone so I slowly pulled out my wallet and handed them twenty dollars.
Now, I know that could have been a con. I'm well aware of that and I'm not trying to brag about my good deed but rather share it with everyone else. What would you do, if you were in their situation for real? Perhaps the next time you see someone on the side of the road broke down, or the guy at the corner with a sign saying "Will Work For Food," the couple at the grocery store with a child who have to start putting a few items back because they're a little short, or that person telling you their misfortune at the gas station. Maybe, just maybe you'll pause and think, "Hell Casey helped out a couple, I might as well too." You know, if every American, everywhere, were to give to those in need around them we'd all be a lot better off. Our conscious could go clean that the person got a little help and they'll remember and hopefully when they can return the favor. So I behoove you all to go out of your way this week and help your fellow man. Yes, I know we've all got bills, many of us are behind on them, but that's nothing like these other's situations. Who knows, maybe that person you help might just be the person you'll depend on someday for help yourself and you wouldn't want them to remember you as the person who didn't help when they had the chance.
So if you had been in my position or if you had been in that couple's position, what would you have done? Leave a comment below and share with the rest of us your thoughts on all this.

Say what Obama?
http://news.yahoo.com/obama-says-republicans-cripple-us-214803507.html
I encourage everyone to read that article. Now I want to ask you, why in the HELL is the President fundraising? He's already traveling for free, he already gets free time on tv, and it's not like him paying for ads is really going to make a difference at all in whether or not he gets elected. He wants to talk about spending and all this bullcrap and how bad the economy is. If he thought the economy was sooo bad off why is he out there trying to get millions of dollars to blow on a campaign. Personally, if he were to announce in one of his press conferences, "I will not be fundraising for the coming election. I had rather our already struggling economy not be pressed even further by the lack of necessity for me to campaign through paid means when there are a lot of avenues to advertise yourself and your beliefs for free." If he said that, I'd have a little respect for him.
I HATE, HATE, HATE how the Democrats claim to be soo humanitarian, soo for the people, soo for rights, soo for unity but yet whenever a Democrat gets up to speak there is always one thing you know is about to happen. He/she/it is about to bash a Republican. Did they ever stop to think about the reason they can't get along is because they can't go five minutes without bashing the other person's ideologies without first listening to what they have to say? Listening to the context and the beliefs.
That sign, "Tax the Rich" is just stupid and goes to show how undereducated about real life that Americans today are. The rich are what pay the poor. You start eliminating their wealth, they start eliminating their stocks, they start eliminating unnecessary employees, and what you promote then is even more without jobs, even more struggling, and even more companies folding up and needing bailouts. Wake up folks! Stop the fighting! Work toward a TRUE AND HONEST solution.
Frankly that jobs act that he wants passed so badly is almost a replica of the one from 2 years ago and to be honest, it didn't do anything for us then. The definition of insanity is repeating the same action and expecting different results. We are insane.
Until we as Americans can vote on level headed, non-attacking, non-aggressive, and compromising officials we can continue to see the country venture the path it is currently on.
Don't follow the Ancient Greeks, Don't vote yourselves benefits. It destroyed one democracy, it will destroy another.
I love this country with all my heart but I swear as a whole we've lost our minds. Fifty years ago congress would have went without pay if they got in this situation. They'd have eliminated steak dinners and went with mac&cheese. They'd eliminated flying first class and went with coach seats. They'd have cut every single possible expenditure that isn't an absolute necessity. They would have solved the financial issues. It's really quite simple and I'll paraphrase Ronald Reagan, "It ain't people getting taxed too little, it's the government spending too much."

A new experience
So I've got a friend who blogs a little and has an interesting blog. I was bored, sitting here today and I thought to myself, "Casey you're full of useless information why not do your own blog." So I set one up, then I thought hmm what sort of information do I want to share with people via blogging. Politics! Religion! Abortion! Gay Rights! These will be topics I think I'll be commenting on. Why you ask? Controversy sells. People on the internet find folks who post about stuff they disagree or agree with then you start flaming wars and debates and generally generate a lot of traffic and then I get MY ideas out there to the public. So this is exactly what I plan on sharing the most. You don't like that? You think I'm scheming for readers? I don't care, it's MY blog and I'll do as I like. Enjoy your day and watch as Obama dismantles this country every second he can! :)
